Favre & Gruden & Jets?

Last night I was preparing my Extra Attacker Fantasy Hockey roster before the Pittsburgh Penguins home match against the Anaheim Ducks. I checked Yahoo Sports for any last minute information when I saw the breaking news about Jon Gruden being fired by the Tampa Bay Bucs. Instantly I remarked to my wife about an interesting, though unlikey, scenerio. Wouldn't it be interesting if the New York Jets hired Jon Gruden as head coach. Gruden worked with Brett Favre in Green Bay under Mike Holmgren. Perhaps Favre could be convinced to give a serious effort at proper off season preparation under Gruden. Just a passing thought.

Winter Wonderland

We have been bombarded with a ton of snow (at least 1.5 feet) over the last couple of days. It is a beautiful pure white snow. Check out the photos and video while I shovel the sidewalk and driveway!

Tennis Opportunities Around Greenville, PA

I want to provide some information about opportunities to play tennis this summer and fall in the Greenville, PA area.

1. Trumbull County Tennis Association in eastern Ohio has information about several tennis tournaments throughout the summer. There are many different flights to enter.


2. Shenango Valley Tennis Club in the Sharon, PA area has a website with some tournament information.


3. The Buhl Farm Tennis Courts (at Buhl Park in Sharon, PA) will host many tennis activities this summer. Sue McLaughlin is the Director of Tennis at the Buhl Farm Tennis Courts. Sue recently retired as the tennis coach at Sharon High School (31 years). Information, entry forms, applications, etc. will be available at the tennis courts. You may also call Sue at the courts (724-962-3643).


4. The Sharon Open Tennis Tournament will be played at the Buhl Farm Tennis Courts in early August. Applications will be available at the Buhl Farm Tennis Courts in July.


5. The Buhl Day Junior Tennis Tournament will be Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the Buhl Farm Tennis Courts for boys and girls 18 and under. Applications will be available at the courts August 1.


6. Sue McLaughlin will be giving free tennis lessons at the Buhl Farm Tennis Courts for all students in grades 7 through 12. The Junior Beginner Lessons are Tuesdays, June 19 through August 7 from noon to 1 PM. The Junior Advanced Clinic are held on Thursdays, June 21 through August 9 from noon to 1 PM.


7. Greenville Summer Tennis is available on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 PM till ? at the Greenville High School tennis courts. This will begin on Monday, June 4. This is an opportunity for current, past, and future Greenville High School tennis players along with Coach Stitt and his "tennis buddies" to enjoy the great game of tennis. Coach Stitt encourages all Greenville High School tennis players to play as often as possible.

Never Too Young To Learn Calculus

My daughter loves numbers and letters. She runs around the house counting from 1 to 10 and singing her ABCs. Recently (last month when she was 17 months old), my daughter was apparently bored with Elmo, the Teletubbies, and her learning DVDs (Baby Einstein and Baby Genius). I found her sitting in the dining room reading a Calculus book. What next?
